hello UG,

I just got a new guitar, but i think im not statisfied with the pickups...
when i have it put in my amp ( with my zoom on bypass and eq on 5-5-5 )

it gives me a bluesy sound
they are ESP LH 150 humbucker pickups

i play the one in the bridge ( i think that's the brightest one )

so i think a new pickup ( some new pickups ) will be a good investment

but as i have NO, i mean NO knowledge of pickups, i need YOUR help

budget is around 150 euro for the pickup ( or 250 for the set )

I like clean stuff and i play in flames, billy talent etc..

when i do something wrong ( like different settings on my guitar ) please tell + help me

Thanks

Greetz,

Tunder

Tl;dr: need versailable pickups, 250 euro

well, you should eq your amp first, and then if you still don't like the tone, then you should look at getting new pickups. knowing how to eq amps can give you a much better tone overall, and will bring out the best in your guitar.

how to clean up a amp?
when the pickups give the bluesy sound?
i want cleans, not bluesy distortion

What kind of amp? I agree with hns; sounds like an amp setting problem, not necessarily a pickup problem, per se.

I had a Vox AD30VT for a while that would distort any time I used humbuckers or soapbars with it, especially open chords, because the speaker was shitty. If your amp has a "clean" setting but isn't "clean" when you want it to be, it's probably not your pickups, especially since stock pickups on inexpensive guitars are never known for having face-melting output. Instead of putting everything in the middle, try turning your gain down. Have you tried the same guitar through other amps?

Don't waste money on pups when you're playing through a beginner amp. Get a decent amp first, without it, everything will always sound bad. Don't have the cash? Save up. Can't save up? Spend your money on something worthwhile then, like booze.

oh thanks xD

i bypassed the zoom device, but still got distortion

i put it directly in my headphones ( philips SHP 9000 ) and still distorted

EDIT: what's booze? <--- oh, i don't drink!!

EDIT EDIT: i always play through my zoom device and my headphones xD

New Amp. You are suffering from Shitty Practice Amp Speaker Syndrome. save for a better amp (a Peavey Vypyr or valve amp like a Valveking) and you'll notice that you'll sound will improve.
Current Rig:

Eppy SG w/Swineheads, Marshall DSL 5c, Joyo Vintage OD, Joyo British Sound, Sounds Sounds Fuzz Face, GGG Guv'nor, Dr. Boogie Pedal, Crybaby in Red Sparkle, Digitech Hardwire Delay

The things I would do for a Les Paul...
