I'm trying to use the tube screamer effect as an overdrive (for bluesy rock, like the Black Keys) and there's two parameters, which one simply controls the distortion?

AFAIK parameter 1 controls level, parameter 2 is distortion.

I'd say go up with parameter 1 quite a bit (3/4 or even full) and set parameter 2 up to the amount of gain you want.

Also, you can look up in the manual what the effects do.

How do you have the tube screamer effect if you have a Vypyr 15?
Spin 'round carousel when your horse isn't screwed in.

Only the Vypyr 30+'s have Stompbox effects, which includes the Tubescreamer effect. That's what I meant.

The 15's Tubescreamer has issues with the noise gate. You should turn up the input gain and reduce the TS output level to cope with the overly aggressive noise gate.
