Hey guys im wondering what you do to spice up your lead tone...like adda little delay or reverb?? ive tried using a Boss DD-3 digital delay to spice it up a bit so its not bland...but it never ends up well for like shred leads. Any Advice on that?

Also, how to do you guys spice up your improvd solos? With some pull offs or hammer ons or bends what do you guys use personally, just curious. I always use pull offs hammer ons, but im wondering what you guys do.

For you delay, you don't want repeats or much time. A few milliseconds will suffice. You want space, not actual delay.

I like to use my POG2 for some fun octave stuff. The Prunes and Custard is fun too.

I think ill set the delay time at 300 MS then on my dd-3???

Dammit I had a really long thing typed out on my phone and deleted it when I went to edit a typo by accident.

Ok so short version. Not too much delay like people said. Maybe like 20% on reverb. Most of my tone changed I just mess with my volume on my guitar/pickups and tone. I sometimes use a wah. If I need to push my amp harder I use a boss blues driver but yeah. Anyways as far as spicing up solOs IMO just really work on bends and vibrato I find it helps alot.

lol fail. That means that it can go from a range of (12.5-50) (50-200) (200-800)

Put the mode on the 800ms setting and twist the delay time knob to match around 380ms

a little delay to give your notes some depth, a wah to change the tone as you play the notes, perhaps a phaser to give it a wilder sound. your best bet of course is to alter your picking attack and other things from your hands. you can also try switching pickups which many players do as well. (examples of the fx can be found in my songs in my profile)

You don't have to use delay if you don't like it. Personally I hate it, I have no idea why it's so popular for lead tones.

I find that Reverb works very very well. A phaser can also be very effective.

turn e.level to around 10 o'clock
turn f.back to around 10 o'clock
turn d.time to around 1 o'clock
turn mode to l.800

that wasn't so hard?

maybe.

Are you running the delay before the amp? That is more likely the problem if your getting your distortion from the amp.
#20
Because you need to put a dd3 in the effects loops. A vox VT50 has no effects loop.

Use the onboard stuff just now it wont be as good but running delays up front isnt the best idea.. The onboard stuff will sound better then running the delay up front into distortion

I have an analogue delay, 400ms ish, long feedback but low level. Almost like a reverb.

This right here.
I try to go for what I call the David Gilmour echo.
I use a TC Nova Delay. That and my TS-808. Maybe phaser.

I've recently started adding a touch of octaving (via the Quadraverb in my loop). Not so much that it's obvious, just enough to add a little extra colour.
