Today i put down a deposit on a left handed Epiphone dot, and I had a nice hour test run of it in the shop and i must say , I fell in love with it. £300 including hardcase and strap, and 4 packs of strings i couldn't say no!

For its price I think it is the best guitar in its price range easily.

What does everyone else think?

its a nice guitar, i prefer it just ahead of the ibanez equivelant that some others prefer. with hardcase strap and FOUR sets of strings for £300 though, you got a bargain there.

I love them.

Great guitars on a budget and I can pull almost anything off with my bros one.

Yeah, I would prefer to go with a Gibson, but the Epiphone is a good guitar. I'd recommend a pickup replacement, maybe something like this, if you want to sink some money and invest in pickups you can reuse in other guitars, or if you're going with a budget, consider something like this, which is half the cost.
Sincerely, Chad.

I'd try to find a used Epi Sheraton over the Dot.

Semi-hollows are guitars that really don't go well with cheap.

What's made you conclude that?

http://www.guitarguitar.co.uk/electric_guitars_detail.asp?stock=px-B168LA2322 was it this?

Cuz thats a left handed epi dot with a hardcase for only £260 (preowned) dunno if its down south or if its in one of the scottish stores though. I hope that is the one you bought though (and they just havent updated the site yet), because Im tempted to get it and really dont need a new guitar or to spend the little money I have.

But yeah if youre looking for a nice semi hollow body in lefthanded take a look at a Hagstrom Viking, mine is real nice.

for a hollow body, its definitley of the of the best guitars on the market in its price range. i woul also say higher end ibanez hollow bodies are very very good for competing in the high end market in terms of performance for halr or less than a comparable gibson etc.

I love mine but I rarely use it since my Tele does nicer Anathema like tones for me.

Not to thread jack, but, whats the difference between the dot and the dot studio, besides the pickguard?

EDIT---
and the $230 USD price difference?

The studio is a stripped down version of the Dot with faded finishes instead of having a gloss finish.

Any notable sound/feel differences?

No except for the lack of having seperate volumes and tone controls everything else plays the same.

The dot has better pickups, and the studio has a fatter neck and no dot inlays which look awesome ^_^
