while for a few dollars more has always been what I proclaimed as my favorite western perhaps it's better to say I think its the BEST western (not the hotel). for indeed my favorite is tombstone. in here, share your love of tombstone, its quotes and general manliness. or westerns in general.

"I'm your Huckleberry."

Now that that's out of the way... My list goes:

The Good, The Bad and the Ugly

True Grit

Pale Rider

Hang 'Em High

High Plains Drifter

Rooster Cogburn

Tombstone

I'm a Clint Eastwood kind of man... The John Wayne movies just because the character was awesome...

Anyone ever see Rawhide(the TV show), Chuck Connors Rifleman, Gunsmoke, or Bonanza? Great TV westerns...
I'M IN THE FIGHT TO CURE CYSTIC FIBROSIS...MY LIFE DEPENDS ON IT!

Val Kilmer FTW indeed.
Most of Tombstone's memorable scenes and quotable quotes come from Kilmer.

Funny that this thread should come up because recently I had been telling my friends how Doc Holliday is one of my favorite movie characters and none of them had seen Tombstone. Well one of them bought the DVD and for the last couple of weeks anytime we hang out our conversations are peppered with quotes from the movie and they all say it's one of their favorite movies.

Has anybody read The Virginian?

That's a badass western. At least for a book.
#16
about true grit the scene that deflates the movie for me is when mattie falls down the pit and is relatively okay being conscious. and THEN starts pissing off the rattlesnake to bite her...surely they weren't that stupid back then.

it's a great watch up until then...ain't seen the coen bro's version yet though so I hope they rectify what happens.
yo.

I was just watching Tombstone again last night on TV, yeah its def. one of the best westerns out there. Once Upon a Time in the West is my personal favorite. It's Bronson's most badass role and Henry Fonda plays an awesome villain.

I'm proofreading a book on Hollywood Westerns and Tombstone isn't in it, so

thats like saying "I'm proofreading the bible and Jesus isn't in it ..."

but seriously, I know it's not the greatest western ever. but man is it a fun ****ing movie! I just realized that this past few weeks has been the 219th anniversary of "the last charge of Wyatt Earp and his immortals". I wonder if that's why it's been on AMC so much.

"Open Range"
...just because I can't recall seeing any other westerns. I'll probably watch "True Grit" soon.

I've never been much of a western fan but from what I've seen High Plains Drifter and Unforgiven are head and shoulders above the rest.

Also, there's already a film thread.
#31
"Unforgiven"

And "High Noon" (First film done in "real time" it takes place from 10:35 am until the showdown at noon. )

Althought Tombstone is and AMAZING western, I don't think I would call it the best.
