So this. I bet a lot of people feel this way though, making it not unpopular.

i think Nirvana's Nevermind album is badly produced. i just don't like how the guitar sounds, i prefer the sound of In Utero.

Agreed, I live in Seattle and always thought Nirvana was a little overrated and took heat from people about it...

Baroque music is, overall, very terrible. Bach should be in his own category.

Post just means it's "after" something and a reaction to/against the previous movement. That's not limited to some obscure rock/metal band. eg Post tonal music, which still has tonal centers but abandons the harmonic language of the the 16th-19th century.

...modes and scales are still useless.

Even though I'm a metal head, I do like some country music. A long time ago Toby Kieth used to be my favorite artist. I still listen to him every once in a while now.

I'm aware of the meaning of the word, just not particularly aware of any real genres aside from that post-hardcore nonsense. It's something I'd previously associated with all that "RAWR! Hear me yell!" detritus that some people seem to thrive off of.

Where-as I've never encountered post rock before, to me that's just some variation of electronic/IDM.

What music isn't just some variation on something else?...

Post rock is a pretty rewarding genre if you approach the right artists. Its along with ambient music.

Post is used to describe lots of art movements, not just rock/metal.
