Basically, how much of an effect can a re-tube have on an amp?

Could it remove the muddiness and brittleness of an amp? Add more gain for a channel?

Or, conversely. If a tube were to go bad could it cause muddiness and a drop in gain?

A retube can help a lot, especially if the old tubes are worn. A retube can also help, if you're looking for a new tone. Different brands of tubes have different characteristics.

Muddiness can be caused by old tubes. Gain can also be effected.

Yes - a weak tube can cause both.

Read the sticky, and I understand that each brand has different characteristics. I just wanted to know how much of an effect that would have on the over-all tone of an amp.
