Okay, I've been uploading some videos to Facebook and Youtube for my friends to see. I've done multiple covers but there is one problem, they are just the guitar, no song or backing track. My friends have complimented me on my playing but they suggest that I should have the song in the background too so that I will sound more "in touch" with a band.
My Rig: I am running my guitar into a line 6 guitarport, running into my laptop with Gearbox tone software. I recorded my other videos like this with my laptop's webcam, but when I play a song or backing track in the "player" menu on Gearbox, it does not get heard by the laptop. I should mention that my laptop's mic setting is set to hearing only what comes from the Guitarport (effects included).
I was wondering if I could just blast the backing track and the guitarport and set my laptop to its natural mic setting. If anyone has any advice concerning my current setup or could suggest me a setup that is possible with the stuff I have, then that would be great. I can provide with any extra information if necessary.
Thanks,
Skullivan

I use guitar pro tabs as backing tracks, I simply delete the guitars from the tab, export it as a wav file, then open it in my audio recorder and record my song over the backing track. Example:

The video is recorded after simply so I dont end up with a blank screen.

You could do this, but why not get a VSTi that will play EXACTLY the same thing but sounds more realistic? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fmUjkof8sGw

All you have to do is open your DAW, load your MIDI drums and apply any VSTi as an effect and the VSTi will play the drums for you.

(You will have to invest some money of course. AD has a free demo though, it comes with a full kit with no toms.)
