Hey guys!

I thought this would make for an interesting and fun subject. How would you describe your tone or your ideal tone?

Ideal tone, like a balloon that's being squeezed.

look nigga, if you're chillin with 5 bros and 2 hos, you're gonna wanna pay attention to all of em equally. not moon over the hos forever and laugh at every shitty thing they say and just stare at them all night, like some of my mates do.

i have 4 tones i guess.

main lead sound- based on bluesbreakers/cream era clapton and eric johnson. basically i try to get a singing, hollow sound from the bridge pickup. i try to get it to sound smooth and warm. i use a cranked marshall and a tone bone classic for this.

2nd lead sound is what i call my "horn tone" which is basically a fuzz face running into a cranked marshall. mostly based on eric johnsons fuzz tone which sounds a little more horn or sax like than his main tone.

3rd is my bluesy tone. i use a boss OD-3 for this and usually push my clean channel instead of the lead channel because i like more mids on the clean channel and for this type of tone.

4th is just my clean tone which as i said i like more mids and i also use more highs. usually bass-7, mids, 9 or full, and high- 5 or 6. lead channel is bass-7, mids- 5, highs- 3. i find that seems to get that hollow sound i want but isnt too muddy either or scooped sounding.

other than that just some reverb. i used to use delay but i havent found one that doesnt mess with my tone yet. reverb sounds more natural for the most part anyway.

Bridge pickup. Treble and bass all the way up. Mid all the way down. Lots of reverb.

Depends.

On electric I don't like sharp tones, can't stand them. I love warm, thick bassy tones. I usually use my strat on neck pickup, tone set to 0 or 1. But I do like more of a classic vintage strat sound for rhythm playing, usually based on Little Wing's tone.

I also love the tone of most 12 string acoustics, Martins, Matons and old acoustic Gibsons.

Clean: Very punchy, You can hear every note clearly when strumming or doing arpeggios. I try to get it as close to an acoustic guitar as possible.. And if I want I'd turn my guitar volume all the way up to have some distortion.

Insane: Very Distorted, Good for soloing, Bright and awesome
Green day.. Rammstein... I have weird musical taste

in general a fairly clean tone with a good deal of delay and a bit of (touch dependant) breakup.
all the best.

Defined but not overly biting high end; prominent upper mids; light but loose bass. Chimy, slightly percussive. Very even decay. Basically, a Gibson archtop into a Vox.

I feel like we share pretty closely the same sentiment on tone.

Do you like this kind of tone as much as I do? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rOoCixFA8OI and http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8nTFjVm9sTQ and http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-3DrL8pwu1k.

Spot on yeah.

I think some of my favourite tones are from jazz players, like George Benson, Wes Montgomery. Which is odd because I'm not a big fan of jazz.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Yjqv_4HZOQw at 3:10 is currently my favourite tone.
