My first guitar was a cheap strat style guitar. I never play it anymore because it sounds like crap and I bought a Epiphone Les Paul soon after. I've been thinking about putting new pickups in it so it doesnt just sit in the corner. I play a variety of music, but mostly rock/heavy rock.

Any suggestions on what pickups to get to help improve the sound? I've been looking a lot at Seymour Duncans and Dimarzios.

I have just today put Seymour Duncan Hot Rails in the bridge of my Fender Starcaster (shitty cheap strat) and the difference is amazing, highly recommend it!

I would look at the SD Blackouts set for the strat and maybe also the Paul Gilbert Injectors from DiMarzio...both sound great.
