The Good Book

Reading the good book
Finding it a bit outdated
And the plot needs some work
And the characters need expanding
And the end is just confusing
It needs to be explained
Some people get the wrong idea
And live in constant fear
Of the author of the good book

A man on fire
Has something to say
Mainly argh argh argh

Hiding down a hole
Eating nothing for days
What I’m looking for will find me down here
Because I need it more
Than anyone could

Hiding in the dark
Singing special songs
About light and love

Reading the good book
Finding it a bit outdated
It needs to be explained
Some people get the wrong idea
And live in constant fear
Of the author of the good book

Stop Me Dreaming

The wolf wolfs me down
And I wake up screaming
The spider crawls up the back
For a sneak attack
And I can’t help feeling
Someone stop me dreaming

The nightmares on T.V
Spend nights chasing me
Take bites
From bedbugs and bogeymen
Fright nights
They corner me and then

Will I wake tomorrow
Shivering and cold tomorrow
A scared little child tomorrow
And he can't stop feeling
Somebody stop me dreaming

How You've Grown

Something marvellous
Something’s grown
Growing up
Growing dim
I’m giving up
She grew up with him

Watched from the place I hide
A view from up high
A view of dark desolate sky
It’s been so long

It wasn’t like when you heard it before
Like I’ve seen you before
What did I go and say that for
I’m an ok friend, no I should be so much more

Can I pretend?
If it’s all just the same
Wherever we get in the end
She caught me thinking a thousand thoughts
Joined you dreaming a thousand dreams

A stranger’s kiss upon my lips
Screaming we should be together

Desperate Dreams

A smile in the shadows
Brightens the thoughts
Darkens the dreams

A crying boy locked away
Don't tell him to grow up
He will become you

I won't love you
After the ever after
I won't make you wait

Just realised life is real
And the things we did to become
I remember everything that comes

Someone knows who we are
Did you know it's a secret?
I could be human if I wanted

Try a smile you might like it
Someone might like it on you
Are you frightened to laugh
Are we the only ones fully aware
Of the desperate fear trying to keep us alive

I'm just getting into a bit of songwriting myself, so I can't offer too much critique. I do, however, REALLY like your stuff
Fender Highway 1 Strat
Agile Septor Pro 725

Fender Hot Rod Deluxe
Axe-Fx Ultra

Trust me, I'm a medical student

I like them. However, I find lyrics without context are hard to critique on. You need the music to make sure the words fit with the mood of the song in my opinion. However, always remember that there is no such thing is bad lyrics, only lyrics than can be improved on.

I will comment on this line though:
"A man on fire
Has something to say
Mainly argh argh argh"

Sounds like a filler line to me. It's quite amusing, so I don't know if that's what you were going for. If you intend it to be serious, I would definately edit that line though. Maybe he has nothing to say in between the screams?

If you get a virus by looking at porn, is it considered a sexually-transmitted disease?

Purely for amusement, only repeated for appearances sake, like the length of lines to be similar in each stanza. Was listening to Tim Minchin (Piano playing songwriting, comedian) constantly when I wrote The Good Book and since then Tim released a song of the same name(not sure but I hadn't heard his before mine), I love coincidences.
