I'm trying to learn the guitar part to Telegraph Road. Its between 14 and 15 minutes long and not really structured as a normal song. Any tips on learning the guitar part? Thanks.
'Slap bass refers to the slap delivered to the bassist when they play too loud or with any kind of attention drawing behaviour...'

'The dusty end, is not my friend.'
Well - you practice practice practice. Just memorize your riffs/chords.

For solos, usually on something like that you memorize a phrase or two in the solo, and just ad-lib it in the right key. Unless you're John Petrucci.

Practice practice.
Constant practise, divide the piece into sizable parts and focus on nailing each one before putting it all together. It can be a nightmare, especially when you start getting into more progressive rock/metal territories.
