Post guitars in this topic that have a body shape that was discontinued and which you think should return. I'm pretty sure some interesting stuff will be shown.

@Air_Vengeance, that's a pretty cool guitar. But I find that nut to be REALLY weird? What's it like?

They dropped it because of a lawsuit from Jackson I believe but I'd love to see it again. I usually hate pointy guitars but I love this one. Plus I'm kind of an Ibby fanatic Still, I'd love to see it come back.

Idols now look like this, and there is no USA made Idol anymore:

The 'original idol' now hasn't a carved top anymore, and again, no USA model anymore:

The shape is still around (I believe, they may have changed the contours a bit on the new H's), but the cockstock is pretty much extinct now, if not completely so (not counting the Japanese exclusive market of course).

I guess fire extinguishers have to be filled with something other than fire retardant now, because apparently that's offensive.

Bring back the Cyclone II

I don't own one, but I've played it and it's a seriously funky plank of Fender goodness

Also, I was unaware that the Idol shape is discontinued. It looks like they've switched to a more Les Paul-like shape now, almost as if they want to be sued.

Is it a good for slide?

Anyway I love the non-reverse firebird. If I had the money to buy one, it'd be the last guitar I would buy. I know there are firebirds like these with three pickups but I personally don't like the color and gold hardware.

1000 times this.

Oh and a return of the Cyclone or Toronado would get my vote too.
Skeet UK is awesome, he can get WD Music parts discounted.

those guitars are super awesome - i especially love the firebird V, with 2 mini-humbuckers. i don't want a 3-pickup one because the controls suck on most 3-pickup gibsons. gibson need to reissue the firebird II and V...

they sound really awesome though:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qwTe9pORYQ8

how could anyone not want a guitar that sounds like that?

my buddy has a red one, bought in 1982, great guitar.

here's mine, these were discontinued in 1960. they made a comeback though since re-issued in the late 60s.

22.7? eh i have a 23 that needs to be put together. how does it sound?

I love the guitar, was a gift to myself for $215. Playability it is my favorite guitar, next to my esquire. I am 6' tall huge hands, but I love the neck, the guitarist I play with is like 5' 6" and says it's a toy Currently it's medium guage flat wounds, GFS wide range bridge, and GFS lipstick tube, through 500k pots. Through my classic 30 it's beautiful. My only complaint, is I wired the pickups out of phase in combination, and I really want to put my custom pickguard on it with the stock pickups. Problem is I promised it to my girlfriend, before I heard it play through my new amp and she likes my paint job on the existing the pickguard

show me a 1961-1967 les paul.
