Hey,

So I finally mastered Jeff Buckley's Hallelujah off the album Grace.

I love the intro to the version on youtube here:

Does anyone know a tab for that intro?

I've tried to work it out, but I can't.

Cheers!!

I'm working on it but I want you to try and figure it out as well, because this will help with your ear.

There are some really tricky chords in ear and it takes a well trained ear to hear them, but if you try to learn some of the notes, even if its just a single note, it will be tremendously beneficial to you. I don't expect you to listen and right away be able to play it, I can't even do that haha, but keep playing something until you find notes that fit

This version is different because it's not in the same key as the original one ( I think F). This one seems to be in C#.

I will tell you this though, the first chord is a an F#maj7

Here's the first 30 seconds of it ha!

the chords you see, except for the C# at the end of the first line are all broken and arpeggiated for the most part, you should be able to tell by listening.

I'm still working on it, I'm having trouble with the bit where I ended the tab, but I do know that around :35/:37 Jeff is at the 9th fret playing an F#

EDIT: In my humble opinion no has taken voice leading and chordal inversion as far as Jeff, he was a great singer, emotionally powerful but his guitar playing is very overlooked and he was a true virtuoso.

^ Interesting, sounding good. I was trying to tab it with capo on 5, because that's where I thought it was on the video? But maybe not, because that F# sounds good...

EDIT: I couldn't agree more with you about your comment about Buckley, his voice was incredible but his guitar playing is amazing, I don't think the later gets as much credit as it should.

I was just wondering how the tab sounds?

I tried going by the video too, haha, but there's at least two different recordings being played, at one point it shows footage from the official video and there's footage from this version, which is in a different key.

How's the tab? I'm having some trouble still, but I kind of have a good idea of what I need to do.

Just came across this haha! I'll give it another try

It is capoed, but on the 6 fret, so it's starting on the C# in the G chord shape.
