Hey! Anyone got any good suggestions for busking tunes.

I've got the classic Steroephonics, Mumfords and Oasis on my list but I'm wondering if you have any songs that when you walk past a busker singing them you're like 'Wow, whatta song!'

Thanks!

TV/movie theme songs. I saw a sax player in the street in Chicago who was raking it in playing things like the Simpsons and the Flintstones.
I'm rgrockr and I do not approve of this message.

If you're in the UK then you have to do some Take That! You seem to understand that you'll need to play songs that everyone likes, and there aren't too many bands that British people, generally, like more than them
I'd love to see a busker pull off Up All Night, Patience, Wooden Boat or Back For Good.

anything in the top 100 charts works perfectly in terms of the audience's appeal, sadly. if you're looking for some dignity, try fur elise.

Don't play Wonderwall.

There's a busker in my city who usually plays James Blunt, he does it surprisingly well. better than James Blunt.

Beatles songs. Lots of 'em.

Some Nick Cave would be pretty cool, some of Zeppelin's acoustic tunes (Tangerine, Gallows Pole, Stairway, Over The Hills and Far Away, Babe I'm Gonna Leave You), and some Jeff Buckley (Hallelejuah, I guess, but I'd be more impressed if I heard Lover You Should've Come Over or Last Goodbye, or anything that's not Hallelejuah for that matter.)

PagEDIT: Elliott Smith is cool too, and some mellow RHCP.

Just play C-G-Am-F over and over again while singing the choruses to nearly every Top 40 hit for the last 25 years or so. Like this.

So? Still good to know what some decent busking songs are. Ben Harper/Jack Johnson/Jason Mraz etc is easy and people generally like them.

I actually just busk covers of my favourite metal tracks I adapt for acoustic guitar.

For example, I do a lot of Devin Townsend covers.. Even some SYL stuff, done KoRn, System of a Down, all sorts.

Bob Dylan songs all day, with a few shitty pop covers to please the women and a few oldies to please the old fuckers.

Oh and some Kinks stuff.

You know what, ditch the guitar, learn accordion, and find two buddies that play accordion. An accordion trio means you can play nine parts instead of two, and there are also 3 people instead of one, so you'll make 13.5 times as much money. At least.

Except that the accordion is just about the gayest and douchiest instrument on earth. So yeah, go ahead.

Just because it's your opinion doesn't mean that it isn't completely wrong. And you know who plays accordion? Yeah, that's right. Now you take that back and shut your whore mouth.
