so my peavey's preamp tubes blew. lately i've been unhappy with my tone. i can't get an aggressive and punchy tone out of it like i'm looking for. i have my eq's low freq's boosted, and my cab is definitely not the problem.

so my question is what tubes will make my amp more aggressive and punchy?

Boosting just the low frequencies is gonna make it more rounded instead of punchy

ohh i boost a lot of mids too trust me. i just want to have to change the amps character rather than just changing the sound signal after its produced, if that makes sense.

Boosting Low end and mids is just gonna mud the whole situation.,

But i do no what your are talking about are you, are you talking about the Triple X head that in your signature though?
Also what could be a relevant example tone that you are after (Doesn't need to be identical)

yeah i'm talking about my peavey. and it's been hard to get a good tone out of it. i'm confused because some peavey xxx's i've tried sound ****ing downright brootal, and mine sounds weak.

i'm basically aiming for brootal tones. like chelsea grin, whitechapel, asking alexandria, etc.

Going by what you are saying I'd be looking for some RFT 12AX7's on Ebay.
Stick SED =C= or JJ power valves in it.

RFT are the "other" German valve. Not many people have heard of them, that's why they go so cheap.

When you consider that they will last between 5 and 10 times as long as a modern valve $30 is pretty cheap. Keep looking, I've seen them go for about $20 plenty of times. An RFT is like a JJ with more clarity and a longer life.
Also, the more well known German valves (Telefunken) go for between $100 and $1000, RFT's are a steal.

RFT's like stated above are cheap for German tubes.

A friend of mine spent $350 on a duet of Siemens 12AX7
Damn it! Disable can't use disable to disable Disable's disable because disable's disable has already been disabled by Disable's disable!

alright i checked out some RFT reviews and sound cilps. they sound pretty damn good. should i just use the same tube throughout? or do i need a different one for the phase inverter?

They'll be fine throughout but you could use any balanced NOS triode to compliment them. A JAN Phillips in the PI would sound good and they are pretty cheap. It will add a bit of sparkle to the sound. They have the Mullard about them, which isn't surprising - Phillips owned Mullard.
