I'm stuck for which colours to use on a swirl guitar. I was thinking of green, purple, and a small amount of black and red, but i'm not too sure at the moment

This guitar looks tasty

Black and green over a white base, or pink and purple over white.

I guess fire extinguishers have to be filled with something other than fire retardant now, because apparently that's offensive.

Black, green and white sounds REALLY nice. Black and yellow over a red base'd be nice IMO too.

Nah, I prefer to tune lower. My tunings usually go into weird Hebrew symbols.

i saw this nice Jackson green/black swirl, it looked awesome. i like the red/black swirl Jackson does, i dont remember what they call it, same with the blue/black one. Even though im not a Jackson player, those are pretty sexy swirls

I think they're disgusting to be blunt. I MUCH prefer to see the grain/ patterns in the wood. Flamed maple is the sex.

B/W would look cool. I just did some B/W tie-dye shirts, they look really good.

A nice, flat color, to me, is much more preferable to a vomit colored guitar.

Keep it simple; have a white base then use black for contrast and a single bold color. I'm partial to red but anything else is good. The wilder the better.

Or perhaps Lime Green, Hot Pink, Blaze Orange and Neon Yellow. Then maybe spray paint some thin stencils on it in Black. It'll be very '90s MTV.

Pointlessly curious here. How IS that done?

Check YouTube and search paint swirl guitars.

I've done a bass for someone else using the Rustolium hammered metal silver and dipped it with blue, black and gold. Turned out nice.

Well one thing that might be usefull for a getting a nice result would be to look a bit into Ittens theories on color harmonies, might sound dull but if you want a really good result, this will help you, its not very hard to understand and its a very fast read but it will make hell of a difference..

This is also a very good site for choosing color combinations, basically alot of designers and artists have made alot of color combos that looks awesome!

Green Pink Purple and Orange lightly over White, like from a distance in bright light the guitar would look nearly white.

I agree with what WholeLottaIzzy said, that good wood should be shown. But I also know that plywood is seldom appreciated for its aesthetic qualities.

Well you wouldn't put a swirl over flamed maple, that would just be stupid.

Basswood isn't the sexiest natural wood on the block.

Not really. A swirl generally consists of other colors to give it a visible swirl effect. If you were to use one color, there's a chance that the single color could reflect light differently and would have some very slight thickness differences making the swirl apparent, but it might not be very noticeable.

Very well, highly considering this method for a new paintjab though.

Then it doesnt matter. you will be happy or upset no matter what you do. Maybe try just a little White gently over top of plain White?
#37
Turquoise and some very bright Red / Orange and then black for the base colour. Maybe thrown in a little yellow or green, but I dont like too many colours. BTW how expensive is it to do this, buying all the needed ingredients and 4 different colour paints. Would be kinda fun to do this to my pos strat copy.
