Finally.
It's that time of the year again.
That magical time when my parents wallets open up
Yep. My results will be out in another week or two.

Once they're out, I expect overjoyed parents will loosen le wallets.

I'll cut to the chase.

I expect a total of USD 1500 to spend.

1K from dad, 500 from mom.

What I want-

A tube amp/rack power amp
7/8 strings guitar
Cab, in case amp isnt a combo.

What I am looking for- moderately transparent poweramp that also adds a bit of tube warmth to my RP500's basic tone. Not going to use the amp's preamp.
I use a lot of effects and change tones a lot mid song, and the tap dancing is too much for me to consider a regular amp.

I also want an ERG of some sort.

I can spend this way-

1K on amp
500 on cab

OR

1K on guitar
500 on combo amp

OR

1k on amp+cab/combo
500 on guitar.

What do you guys suggest?
I've been looking at the Carvin TS100, the ENGL E840/60 (dunno if either of these will be available), the Peavey VK50 112 and the Ibanez TS15. (going to go direct through effects return)

Guitar wise, looking at the Ibanez RGA 7/8, Shecter C-7/8 Hellraisers.

What do you guys suggest?
I need to make up my mind fast.

All into amp... I've been toting with the idea of a power amp as well... Or do the 1k on amp and 500 to guitar. Just my two cents.

My goodness. What a donation on your parents part! I would put it ALL into am amplifier! Having a top of the line amp is something I go to sleep every night hoping I dream about it. Make the decision wisely that is a LOT of money to blow!

No. 1K+0.5K. NOT 1.5K.
Plus, theres no point running it through an MG x.x

My parents are like that mom let me blow the thick end of a grand on a PC last year. They feel generous at random. Besides, I'm expecting pretty decent marks. I got my current rig for my Tenth grade boards two years ago.

Anyway, suggestions for guitar/amp?

EDIT: The Schecter Omen 8 is just barely 600 dollars.
Grab one and a 1K poweramp+cab?

EDIT: Hows the Fender Hot Rod Deville for a moderately transparent amp? It's just north of 1K.

Personally, I'd put it all in the bank, and either save it for a rainy day, or a really nice amp, possibly a dream amp.

^ not a bad idea actually

TS, GS, the amps you have listed so far are all over the board spectrum wise. I'd either go play a bunch of amps and narrow this down or just save your money. Also, it is hard to help when we don't know what kind of music you like the most. Maybe sell the MG and the RP500 and get a Vypyr tube 60

Also, someday, buying amps will be more rewarding when you can buy them with your own money.

In my experience making up your mind fast has never ever been the correct choice - in most any decision. Especially decisions which cost a lot of $.

All into an amp.

If you NEED an ERG, the agile interceptor is FREAKIN beast, it'll set you back about $750. That leaves $750 for an amp/cab. You could get a 5150 and a cab for that.

engl's arent available in india
carvin's are available online but a carvin v3 costs 1600$ here...so no use
go to roland ask mustaque how much will he take to import an engl e530 preamp from u.s if he takes around 700$ go for it
get a tubescreamer halfstack and chamge the speakers in it with v30 which will cost you another 600$
or
get a 6505 112 for 800$

The Vypyr option is tempting, but a lot of stuff I've come to rely upon in the RP are plain and simple missing in the Vypyr.
I want a basic tube poweramp. Or a tube powered active speaker.

Go back under your rock.
As to your modeller snobbery, Opeth would like a word with you. Akerfeldt uses a GT-10. Which is rather inferior amp modelling wise to the RP series.
Also, you completely missed the point about effects.
Use your ears instead of your eyes.
Werent you suggesting a Metal Muff through a TSA15 head over a 6505 a week or two back?
Troll.

Yeah but effects? The E530 doesnt support MIDI.
If, and when, I move to a MIDI rack (at least a few years from now), I might add something like that. Till then, no.

Cab isnt a problem. I can get it off Thomann easy.

The Carvin is available online you say? Shipping to india? It's USD500 IIRC.

it seems to me that what you want is a power amp + a nice cab. Surely some of the chinese made 2x12" cabs loaded with V30s find their way to Calcutta for a decent price? I don't know the prices for gear in India, sorry.
I got a Framus 2x12", pretty solid cab I think, and cheap.

As far as power amps go, they're pretty pricey. How's the used market for Peavey/Marshall/Engl power amps around Calcutta? Around here, the Peaveys can often be bought for a decent price.

marshalls are available here but they are extremly pricey for example jcm 800 is available here for 4500$
but peaveys....love them they are available at the same prices as in u.s

I'll go bankrupt.

Deepsal has a point. Peavey, Orange and Laney are the only amps that sell for prices similar to US prices.

Exactly. Poweramp, cab, ERG.

Used market is non existent.

The only Peavey poweramps you find here are their PA/Bass ones.

So online it is.

You might as well buy a Peavey 6505+ 112, since you're not going to get a decent power amp over there without spending exorbitant fees on markup.

Aw well.....looks like its gonna be the cheapest solution.......
I'll stick to this and an Omen 8 then.

You could find you actually like its pre amp.... I bet my left nut the pre amp would sound better than any moddling you have on your RPP thing.

A real 6505 will sound better than a model, granted.
However, using its pre amp means tap dancing. No 4CM on the 500.

Though I suppose I could just use models on the Rp for effect laden stuff and use the pre amp alone for less effect-y stuff......any other amps you suggest?
What about the Fender Hot Rod Deville I asked about?
