Favorite Genre crossovers anyone?

For example, a Bluegrass cover of Lady Gaga's Bad Romance

a great improvement, imo (minus the girl's voice).

Others?

The Punch Brothers have the Brandenburg Concertos done as a bluegrass band, simply incredible.

EDIT: watching that again for the first time in a while, holy shit it is SOOOOOOO good. I love the way they bring Bach's music to a setting like that, where everyone is relaxed and just having fun. I wish classical concerts were more like that, just relaxed and not so stuffy and serious.

Have you seen the Michael Lawrence "Bach and Friends" film? It has a lot of that stuff, such as:

Got a chance to listen to it just now. Absolutely wonderful performance. And not a bad thing, but I don't even consider this genre crossover. To me, this just further demonstrates the raw, absolute nature of Bach's music, removed from any worldly obligations such as specific instrumentation. It's a universal blueprint that can be adapted to almost any style and sound.

Very true, its not necessarily changing anything in the Brandenburg concerto itself, but it is putting it forward in a very different environment then usual and to an audience that probably wouldn't have listened to it otherwise. So in a sense that is "crossing over" from its usual presentation.

Agreed though, Bach's music is so perfect that it works wonders no matter how it is presented
