I just read about how Led Zeppelin was the offspring of a failed attempt by Jimmy Page to form a supergroup with Jeff Beck, John Entwistle and Keith Moon. (THAT WOULD BE EPIC!!!) So what's your dream supergroup???? Name who would play what instrument (Rhythm Guitar, Vocals, etc..) Mine would be:

Vocalist: Freddie Mercury

Lead Guitar: Jimmy Page

Rhythm Guitar: Pete Townshend

Bass: Paul McCartney

Drums: Keith Moon

Vocalist: Anthony Kiedis

Guitarist: John Frusciante (or Dave Navarro)

Bassist: Flea (duh...)

Drummer: Chad Smith.

sounds like a bad-ass group to me.

In all fairness, I'm REALLY glad Entwistle and Moon didn't do that. That group would have had all the chops in the world, but no incredible writer. Likewise, the Who would've been lacking in the musicianship department.
Hey, I'm Mike.

Lyrics writer, no. But they'd have one of the best guitar composers ever to live, Jimmy Page. I know what you mean though.

If I was trying to make the greatest band ever...

Vocals: Robert Plant
Lead Guitar: Eric Clapton
Rhythm Guitar: Derek Trucks
Bass: John Entwistle
Drums: Neil Peart

It would be blues rock extravaganza. If I was just going to list a pure rock band with my personal favorites, then:

Vocals: Chris Cornell (The perfect voice for hard rock.)
Guitar1: Jimmy Page (Brilliant at writing music, my favorite musical style ever, great guitarist.)
Guitar2: Slash (Love his style. Very soulful and shreddific at the same time.)
Bass: John Entwistle (again. He's my second favorite bass player besides Les Claypool, but he fits the band better.))
Drums: Keith Moon (I like Peart and Bonham more, and Grohl might have a slight edge, but Keith Moon was ridiculously awesome.)
