How do I wean myself off of having to STARE at my hand while playing?

practice, practice, a little bit of practice, then a few hours of practice, followed by some practice, then smother it all in massive amounts of PRACTICE.

Learn riff. Play riff. Look Away.

Rinse and repeat

And if that doesn't help, put a blindfold on your face of something, but that's a bit extreme.

the blindfold thing works well. Or just look at the wall or something
