Now I know this is Ultimate-GUITAR, but I need help with my TV!

I have a set of Logitech x530 speakers that have PC connectors. I have an xbox which can either have a HDMI out or component out. I need to have the speakers playing the sound whilst the HDMI cable is playing the vision. Is this possible? My logitech speakers don't have an optical out so I can't just plug in straight to the TV. Also, do I need a HDMI cable to play 1080p?

Thanks alot

PS: I don't mind if you remove this thread as it has nothing to do with this site!

I have no idea, but this is the off topic forum. You're not actually meant to talk about guitars here..

Oh ye I forgot about that haha!

You CAN get an HDMI cable to play both audio AND visual at the same time ya know, they are about thirty five bucks for 3' length at Walmart. Otherwise, you can run an HDMI with visual and use an S cable for audio, which is different and better than the one with the three different colors. If your TV is 1080I or P, it should have an output for both HDMI and the S cable.

And yes, you HAVE to have an HDMI (preferably gold) cable to play 1080p, which btw, your TV has to have already equiped, as well.

Alright thanks alot. Also, do you know alot about screen burn in or IR? I just wanted to know, if you play a game for about an hour and then switch to a different game or turn the TV off, will it stop the screen from IR or burn in?

Thanks

Plasma gets screen burn and LCD doesn't. But the newer ones are better now for Plasma's, because it was a major drawback. It would have to be state of the art brand new Plasma but I still wouldn't take the chance. I got an Xbox so LCD is a must.

I'm not sure about the projector TV's. I think the old ones definately do. Not sure if the newer ones are better now.

LCD is the best for video games, definately, and i've never gotten the burn.

I have been reading for a while now and plasma seems to be the best. Better PQ, Colour, contrast etc. and with the screen burn, it is very rare for it to happen and even if it does there are ways to remove it

I'm about to buy a new TV and it's either the Panasonic TX-P42U30B (Plasma) Or the LG 37LE5300 (LED)

It's up to you, man. Plasma has gotten better but I know for a fact that LCD never does. And LED, I have no idea.

Plasma has the best picture, including blacks and streaking. But I wouldn't trust it with screen burn, sorry.

LCD Toshiba (state of the art) is really good with streaking. Not as good with blacks.

Sony is great with blacks but not as good with streaking (like seeing a trail after a fast moving object like a hockey puck.)

And again, being the Pit, how much can you trust advice here anyway? Just my two cents after all the research I did when I bought my TV. For that much money, obviously research is a must. How about a consumer reports website. That might have better info.

Plasmas are awful for blacks now! Same with their overall colour. LED has surpassed plasma in every way. Samsungs in particular. Sony has gone down the pan since Samsung stopped making their panels, and Panasonic are just.. Ewwwwww.

Now I do have fair bit of experience with all these tellys, working in a specialist, independant hifi/av store that stocks all these sets.

What do you think about the 37" LG LE5300? Reviews seem very good. I have just read about the Panasonic being quite a low range model so it may not be that good. Grrr I hate having too many options!

OK for the price. For an extra £200 you can probably find a Samsung UE40C6620, which is the model I have, with a 5 year guarantee. They were £1500, so you can probably appreciate £600 is an absolute steal.

I would but my budget is only £450 unles I wait for about 5 months... which I don't want to do! Thanks alot
