FS: WOBO Remote PatchBay/Korg Tuner/Boss NS2/George Ls/Samson Mic/Gibson 490R & 498T

Right, I'm moving to a rack and looking to move all this on to a new home

First up is my WOBO MFX PatchBay & MFX Remote. You can see original specs/dimensions etc at http://woboge.com.

It basically allows you to hook up up to 8 pedals/effects in different combinations (in front of amp or in FX loop) and control them all by a 9 button foot controller. You can have 8 presets that are configured via the DIP switches on the side of the controller, one assigned to each footswitch. It also has the ability to switch amp channels by 1/4" cable allowing you to combine the connected effects and amp channels in the presets.

I cannot speak highly enough of this and WOBO, the guys I spoke to before buying this were so helpful and constantly in contact. I had mine customised so that instead of a single amp channel switching socket it has two allowing amps with more than two channels to be switched, such as my DSL401. The switching is seamless and noiseless and both units are built to last.

It comes with a 15 foot cable to connect the two units so you can hide the patchbay and pedals away in a rack if you wanted.

PatchBay: http://i54.tinypic.com/1129403.jpg
Remote: http://i55.tinypic.com/23v1474.jpg
Preset Switches: http://i54.tinypic.com/5z1tlx.jpg
Manual: http://i53.tinypic.com/2pyzwb6.jpg

I've included the manual so you can see some connection diagrams and a more detailed explanation of the unit for anyone that wants it. If you have any questions about this such as how it works, what it can do, will it work with this etc please post in this thread so everyone can see my answers.

Next I have a Korg DT-10 Tuner in silver. See here for original specs: http://www.korg.co.uk/products/tuners/dt10/tu_dt10.asp

This is about 9 months old and in extremely good condition. It has velcro attached to the bottom as it was on my board but can easily be removed. No battery included. Original box and manual. Perfect working order.

Next I have a Boss NS-2 pedal. See here for original specs: http://www.bossus.com/gear/productdetails.php?ProductId=151

This is a couple of years old and has a couple of scuff marks around the sides of the enclosure, nothing on the top face. This can also be used to daisy chain power to other 9v pedals. No battery included. Original box and manual. Perfect working order.

---------------------------------------

Next I have 18 George L Right Angled Nickel Jacks. I don't think I need to say much about these as any quick search will show up glowing reviews.

I would be willing to split the 18 into a pack of 10 and a pack of 8 if required.
http://i52.tinypic.com/1604k5k.jpg

£45 for 18
£25 for 10
£20 for 8

I also have several lengths of George L .155" Cable left over from my pedalboard cables. All these have been tested as good cable and have been cut at each end ready for assembly.

Next I have a Samson C03 Multi-Pattern Condenser Microphone. See here for original specs: http://www.samsontech.com/products/productpage.cfm?prodID=1663

I have had it about a year but it has been stored in its case at all times and used probably a total of ten times over the year. It is basically in new condition with all original packaging. The recordings I did do with it were great and I was extremely happy with the sound. I used it for my acoustic which allowed the full acoustic sound to come through the recording with no sound colouration.

Next I have a set of Gibson USA 490R/498T Pickups. See here for specs and wiring diagram: http://www.gibson.com/en-us/Divisions/Gibson%20Gear/Pickups/Modern%20Classics/

They were taken from my Gibson Les Paul Studio after just over 3 years when I replaced them with BKPs. That was about 1 year ago. They are in great condition and come with legs, springs and two-conductor wiring. Handmade in USA.

-------------------------------------

And lastly I have my Spider XXLarge Pedalboard Flight Case.
See http://www.spider-engineering.co.uk/music/typeproducts2.asp?id=4077-4748 for dimensions etc.

This is a couple of years old and has been travelled a bit so there a few scuff marks around the edges of the bottom half and the top surface is a bit worn but only cosmetic stuff. The thing is built like a tank and will protect anything inside.

I have fixed the wooden board into the bottom of the case to provide a sturdy base. I have also glued and stapled strips of velcro across the board to provide easy mounting of any pedals/equipment.

£40 Collected

Due to the size of the case I would prefer it to be collected (Horsham, West Sussex) but if thats not possible then postage would be an extra £10.

Wow, long thread!

Any chance of splitting then pups? Am interested in the 498t. Assuming that it's a bridge pup?

Sorry not looking for any trades really. Am working on a rack build and am mostly set with the gear I want, not looking for any pedals currently.

Fair enough then. Just realised today my phone contract goes out next week, so the week after I should have the cash

I'm tempted by that WOBO, but I have a technical question that I need answering that I couldn't quite work out from the manual.

You said you've had 2 amp channel selectors installed instead of one. Is that the CH3 and CH4 sockets on the patch bay?
Do you have to sacrifice of the effects loops to use both or can you still have 8 pedals and 2 amp channels? If so how does this relate to the 9 DIP switches?

Also, I have a Fender Blues Deluxe which uses a stereo jack footswitch to control amp channel and amp reverb. If I was to use a stereo to dual mono jack lead from the amp to CH3 and CH4 would I then be able to incorporate the amp drive channel and amp reverb into my custom presets?

Cheers,
Will

Hi Will,
Yes, the two amp switching sockets are indeed CH3 and CH4 on the patch bay.

You do not have to sacrifice use of an effects loop, the routing for using an effects loop is determined by the 4 IN and OUT sockets and is not affected by CH3 or CH4 at all.

The stereo socket on your Blues Deluxe will be fine, my DSL401 used a stereo jack footswitch as well which is why I got the extra socket added. You will be able to mix and match pedals/amp settings within the presets. Numbers 1-8 on the preset switches refer to sockets 1-8 on the patch bay. Number 9 allows you to set a latched/unlatched setting.

You can have 8 pedals connected as well as use both amp switching sockets, the only thing to note is that any loop 3 on the patch bay will be activated if you are using CH3 to switch the amp's channel at the same time. Likewise loop 4 is activated along with CH4.
Loops 3 and 4 on the patch bay are good for pedals you are only ever going to use with a specific amp mode. Obviously you can still use the actual effects pedal that you have connected within the loop to switch the effect on/off even though the loop is activated.

If you do not want a pedal within loop 3 or 4 but want to use it for amp switching you will need to connect the SEND and RETURN jack on the patch bay with a cable.

I hope I've made sense!

what does the BP button do? and how do you change the amp channel?

The BP is a Bypass button. When pressed all loops are turned off so you are passing straight through.

If an amp is switched by a mono jack it reacts to either there being a signal from the footswitch or not i.e. ON or OFF. If it uses a stereo jack it can combine an ON and OFF setting on both LEFT and RIGHT channels allowing you more options than just a mono footswitch.

The WOBO replicates this by either having the loop turned on i.e. ON on a regular amp footswitch or having the loop turned off i.e. OFF on regular footswitch. Using the two sockets for a stereo footswitch allows you to switch between more than just two amp channels, like iwth my DSL401.

So to switch the channel on the amp just activate loop 3 in one of the presets. Or loop 3 and 4 to give you a different amp channel. Or just loop 4 to give you another amp channel. Each amp is different in how it reacts so you'd just have to hook it up and see what settings relate to what amp channel.

Yeah, that makes sense now, cheers for clearing it up.
So, if I have a chorus pedal in loop 4, and the amp reverb in CH4, and can't activate the chorus pedal without also switching on the amp reverb?

If this is the case, I might have to have a think about how/if I can use that with my setup. I'm already trying to work out if I can use only 8 presets!

Cheers again,
Will

Yeah basically, CH3 activates loop 3 and CH4 activates loop 4.
You might find your reverb is activated by having both CH3 and CH4 set to OFF but basically yeah lol

Just that in my experience not all amps are set the same when it comes to footswitching channels. Just saying yours is probably going to be different than my DSL was.

Ignore me lol i'm just confusing things now. You were right the first time!

Come to think of it, my band mate has a dsl 401 so I can try his footswitch in my amp. If the Clean/OD switches the Fender gain channel and the OD1/OD2 switches the Fender reverb on and off then it should translate to the WOBO as you were using it.
