Need a good amp (preferably a Marshall) to play heavy stuff (Like Metallica, Megadeth, Iron Maiden, Children Of Bodom, Pantera etc)

Budget: $600

Thanks.

In that price range you will have a few options, nothing amazing but do you play in a band or is it for home/studio stuff?

You can get a JCM-900 for $600 most likely. Or a Peavey 6505+

If you have to have a Marshall you could look into the DSL heads or the combo.

However, a Jet City JCA50h or JCA22H would work well. A peavey 6505+ combo would work.

Are you gigging?

Dude, Peavey Ultra/XXX/3120 (same amp, renamed and rehoused through the years).

That amp will nail the tones you're trying to go for. It'll certainly be better than any Marshall you can get for that cheap.

Just make sure you get one that has EL34's in it, as that is the key to the British flavor.

I don't think the Ultra can, but the XXX and 3120 should be able to take EL34's even if they come stock with 6L6's.

I'm gonna have to order from ebay o' sumthin.

EDIT: I found the Blackstar HT-20 interesting, is it any good? and will it go nicely with a Metal Muff w/ Top Boost Distortion?

I have a 3120 in mint condition that I could work you a deal for around that price. The thing gets gnarly tone for metal.

It's called an HT60 Soloist. But you're right about the 6505s. If you're ONLY playing heavy stuff, they work wonders.
