Almost everyone finds it so weird that I name my guitars. Personally I love all my guitars and I see a personality and character in each one. So I name them (all girls of course like cars and ships). What say you?

Some people really identify with their instruments. Others see them as tools. Some like to name theirs, some don't. If I get an instrument that really "speaks" to me, I usually end up with a name for it after a while. I don't really try and think of one, so not all my instruments get names. My favorites usually do though.

i love my guitar to bits tbh, but i've never really felt the need to name them or anything.. they're not simply tools to me tho.

I named my guitar after my GF once... It was tempremental, the neck was too fat, and I couldn't turn down the volume, just like her...
#6
I name mine, but I don't always call them by those names. For example, I named my SAS36FM "Saz" as in short for "Serah/Sarah" as I once knew a redhead by that name and the model name "SAS" is somewhat similar.

My RG350 I named "Collfarn" which is Welsh for "Warfare" (sometimes Conviction depending on context) as I got into Steve Vai's Passion and Warfare around the time I got it. I tend to just call it "my RG" around other people, though. I had a Les Paul that I named "Angerddol"which again is Welsh for "Passion".

I once took a fancy to a white Fender Strat that I would have named "Jenny"- no idea why, it just looked like a Jenny

I named my ML Vera Lynn, because I thought and still think Vera's a pretty sexy name. Then I found out tht was an actual person, now her name is "My ML".

Mine are named based around model numbers barre a few. My Les Paul copy is Leslie, my Jazz bass is Jasmine and my Fender Stratocaster is named Deloris for what she plays. I've always reffered to them by name around people who know them by name (not many). But I always say 'she' not 'it.'

Mine are all named by what they look like, not girl's names. I have nothing against girls names for guitars (or cars, boats, etc for that matter). But it all seems so arbitrary to me.

For example - I call my Strat "Woodie" because it's a 2-tone sunburst and you can see a lot of the wood grain under the finish. It reminds me of the old woodie station wagons that had the wood grain siding. My Goldtop is called "Goldie" for obvious reasons. To me that makes more sense than some random girls name.

I always wanted to name my guitar, but i figured I will do it when i'll have more than 2. But yes, i always refer to my guitar as "she"

A while ago, I named my SG "Naomi" for some reason, but I don't play my SG much anymore.

I've lately developed a (probably unhealthy) habit of naming guitars after girls I've fancied. This is going to bite me painfully in the backside sometime soon.

non of my guitars have ever really looked like a name if you know what i mean.

But im sure my next guitar ill be getting in a few days ESP LTD M-1000, that is pretty much my dream guitar and will be keeping for the foreseeable future will get a name eventually as im sure it will get bashed battered and beaten and build its own character.

I name mine based on the impression I get looking/listening to it. My bass is grey, industrial looking, active and all around soulless - and obviously strung with thick bass strings, which I thought kinda looked like the pickups were imprisoned; so I named it "Behind Bars". My Telecaster is brown with a maple neck and a cream pickguard and has a twangy country tone, so I named it "Earthtones," and so on.

The prestige in my sig's name is Topanga. When it finally arrived and I unpacked it, my girlfriend was with me and when I opened the case, she asked what kind of wood it was made from and I said "well the necks maple, the fretboards rosewood with maple binding, the body is mahogany, and the top is bubinga" and she laughed and said "Bubinga? Your guitar is the long lost sister of the girl from boy meets world? Topanga?" Never watched the show, but the name kinda stuck but whenever I refer to it, it's always a 'her' or 'she' and never an 'it'. But my other two RG's are just 'the black one' and 'the red one'.

Great name for a metal band anyone ? Maybe change spelling or pronounciation to Angerdoll though.

Anyway, I dont name my stuff, and I refer to them as "it" always. And if I do name them, I dont get them people names. For example, my moped as called "White Lightning", becuase its white, and its the slowest one in town.
I do talk to my stuff though, mostly yelling at them when they do something wrong. But I quickly shut up, because I fear they'll get mad and spontaniously combust just to spite me.

Are you out of your mind? Guitars are shaped like women for a reason... unless you have a V or some other modern crazy shape. Unless you don't like fondling women...
