Well I was tuning my high E string on my acoustic to match my B string for a supa sexy Best of You cover, and right before it matched the G, it snapped, and I flipped.

I was wondering HOW THE H**L COULD I SNAP A FREAKING STRING TUNING DOWN?????

That's probably how he managed to snap it

It happened to me too, I was trying to tune my guitar to Drop C, as I was tuning down the 1st string, the bastard felt like snapping. Strings like trolling.

Its happened to me, except I was tuning the low E down to B. E strings hate that ****ing note for some reason.

How old was the string and how long did you have it up tuned before down tuning it?

Its happened to me before honestly.

You decrease the stress on one string, the stress will have to increase across the others to make up for it, and that bitch will snap if you're not careful
#12
You change the stress on the neck tuning down and up

It's not surprising that it snapped because you down tuned too fast

if your string is a bit old and you tune down too fast it is completely possible to break a string tuning down. i've done it many times. especially when i change tunings various times within one seesion of guitar playing. don't know the science behind it but its not uncommon.

tip: dont' tune down or up too fast.

More people need to notice this.

TS has invented a new form of tuning.
has a terrible signature.

People, he went from E to D to C to B. There is no G in there.
He's tuning DOWN his high e string.

Geez, i know this is the pit, but come on, you guys are smarter than that.

It just happens sometimes, thats the only way I break strings anymore, being a broke college student I leave my acoustic strings on for as long as I can, my G always breaks after a long time even just tuning it down a half step. I havent broken a string on my electric guitar in years though.

wait............ You tuned from an E to a B and then where did the G come from?

Also, yeah it happened once before when I was tuning the G down to something(can't remember what it was) and then it just broke. That does happen.
Signatureless. And this doesn't count. Because I said so.
#28
Come on TS, tell us how you found a ****ing G in between B and E.

You were tuning up, weren't you?
#30
I snap way more strings tuning down than up. Probably because I tune to more weird tunings than anyone else i know, usually lower than standard, or some strings higher and some lower than standard (probably not good for the strings...or the guitar for that matter)
