A guitar with effects pedals built in. I just thought of this randomly and was curious what people think, wouldn't this kinda be cool? like to have a distortion pedal in a guitar? Or is this just incredibly stupid? and im not even thinking about doing this but just wandering

Matt Bellamy is probably most famous for this. His guitars are custom made by Manson guitars, with Fuzz Factory's, phasers, KAOSS pads, and some others installed. They've produced a couple models for consumers with different options available.

Whether or not it's 'cool' is up to you, but it's definitely not a new idea.

:O i was talking about this today
"The man that hath no music in himself, nor is not moved with concord of sweet sounds, is fit for treasons, stratagems, and spoils. The motions of his spirit are dull as night, and his affections dark as Erebus. Let no such man be trusted."

Yes.

People have been doing this for quite some time. One guy even sells tiny little modules that are about as big as your volume pot for each effect.

Honestly I don't really see the point in it...

well I thought it would be cool for somebody's first guitar, like built into squiers and other cheap guitars

this is the way i've always loked at it

'cool your start has an echo in it... what about your les paul? why no echo for teh les paul!'

but for something lke matt beleamys kaoss pad where you want to manipulate the effect mid song its pretty useful I guess.

could be interesting, but I think that the guitar would be a bit too heavy!!!

If anything, the guitar gets lighter as you add effects. The first one or two might add 1/8 of an ounce for the effect board, but as soon as it gets crowded you start removing wood and it gets lighter again.
Check out Artec's QDD effects thingy. I installed one and its kinda cool, but only the super distortion effect is worth the trouble, the other 3 are boring.
