Simple question really, how hard is it to install one on a guitar? I've re-fallen in love with the sound of them, and I might be getting a 7 string soon which I could put one on. Assuming it's too complicated, I'd take it to a tech though.

Depends what you want to do.

You can replace the whole bridge with a piezo bridge and it shouldn't be too difficult from there.

I've had tube amps for a while now, but never actually had any go down on me

maybe you're not saying the right things? an amp likes to know you care.

True, but I'm not at all familiar with wiring. Should I still take it to a tech?

Whatever bridge you get should give you wiring diagrams that should be simple to follow, but if you feel you can't do it yourself, sure. You just have to realize that it's going to add $50+ to the full price of the piezos.
