What do you think of teenagers and mobile phones?

I never used my old one , but my friends
are way too emotionally attached to theirs. One even said she couldn't live
without it.

It's pretty important to most of my friends I'd say. I could live without it, but it certaintly makes my life a lot easier

I don't know about emotionally attached, but I know people who say they couldn't live without a phone too. I think the ease of controlling your social networking through facebook on your phone, or texting is why people "need" them.

I personally use mine for emergencies only, because I don't have a social life, but I know lots of people who are never without them.

I use my phone for various things, I mainly use it to store and play music. But I use it for the Internet sometimes and to talk to people. If I lost it I'd be sad for the sheer amount of music and porn that I would've lost.

Sick of the fact I can't have a conversation with most people because they have their phone glued to their hand. I hate the fact my friends are retarded enough to text while they drive. I hate the fact I'm made to feel bad because I don't always have my phone on me.

yeah.....

I've got a droid and I typically use it more as a portable computer than a phone, I use the internet on it wayyyy more than texting or calling

I'm not a teen and I love the shit out of my phone...

Some people might take it a little far, but in my opinion far worse are those who act like they're somehow morally superior because they don't.

It's a tool, not a lifestyle, and defining your lifestyle by not having one, makes you a tool.

I have a sony erricson brick.
It lasts a week on full charge
and I make £10 of credit last 6 months.

It's fair to say, it's not a big deal in my life.
Use it when I need it and nothing more.
There's a good chance that what I've written above is useless and if you take any of the advice it's your own fault.

I'd be pretty pissed if mine broke, but that's mostly because it's also my iPod

I have one of these bad boys

Had it for years, and don't need a new one. Definitely don't want an iphone or some flashy shite like that. I've had the same £10 credit on there for the last 4 months or so. Maybe more.
Very rarely take it out with me, if I do it's because I don't own a watch or because I know I'll need to arrange meeting someone or getting a lift or something. Just a bit of security.
One of my exs though, would go actually mental if you took her phone without asking and she didn't know where it was. Never saw her go 10 minutes without looking at it, playing with it, texting, calling etc etc. Really pisses me off.

I have an iphone, and I really do like it. It has my music, I play games on it, and I use the browser on it quite often. I wouldn't say that I couldn't live without it, but if I lost my phone or something, it'd be quite an inconvenience. I'll admit it does feel weird when I'm out and I forget my phone though, especially when I'm going out to meet friends. If something happens and I'm going to be late or can't make it, it'd be courteous to let them know.

I do hate it when people seem emotionally attached to their phone though. It's just a device and as such it's replaceable, and you can carry on with your life without one. If you can't go ten minutes without checking your phone unless it's some emergency or something, I'd say there's a bit of a problem.

I use mine a lot to talk to my friends, I just like being able to talk to people easily. But I must admit I've gotten into a bad habit of using it even when other friends are around which i feel guilty about sometimes.

I prefer cell phones to landlines. The only time I don't have my cell with me is when it died overnight and I need to charge it. A cell phone, for the most part, will always be with a person. Much easier to get in contact if you need to.

Having a phone makes life easier but I'm definitely not attached to mine, I never answer when people call/I always forget to charge it.

edit: I don't know what I'd do without Cube Runner though.

I love my phone but I'm not in love with my phone. I use it mostly to play music in my car/on the bus (samsung galaxy s) and use various apps and write down little notes like when I think of lyrics to use later. Communications probably the thing I do least with it... I only text when needed too because I prefer talking

I use my phone to arrange meeting people nothing more. I honestly have no idea how people can keep up the texting all day, either I'm incredibly boring or they're texting bullshit.
#24

This is my phone. I don't get Internet on it, don't even have picture messaging. But it's gone through a lot of abuse but has never messed up on me. It was cheap as fuck, and it has a keyboard, so it's really all I need for now, until I can afford to upgrade.
#26
I can't stand seeing dumbass young teenagers with flashy powerful phones; always getting a new one every month. Good lord, they probably only use it for stupid games and texting.
#27
I have one but hardly use it, and regularly don't charge it once its run out for weeks on end. I do most of my organising with friends through facebook so I rarely need to use my phone any more. Maybe some people are too attached but in my experience they use it to go on facebook and other websites, so its not really much different than me sitting on the computer all day.

This so much, the **** do they need them.

I hate when teens spend £400+ on a new phone every year and basically just use them for Doodle Jump.

I got an iPhone 3G almost two and a half years ago for £150. Best bargain of my life, and I don't plan on changing my phone for a long time.

I haven't used my phone in... 2 months and I don't use it at all since my parents don't allow texting. So yea it's always dead and I only charge it when I go to a concert or something.
^^ Hahah, I'm just kidding.. or am I?

I just upgraded up to an iPhone 4 after having an Alias 2 for 2 years. I managed pretty well without a smartphone for awhile, but I've certainly had a few times in the last half year or so where having one would be pretty handy, so I'd say I'm fairly glad to have one now. I see it as an incredibly helpful tool because with how fast-paced everything is these days, you do kinda need to adapt to keep up with it all

Mine makes phone calls(surprised?), but I've never texted.

I'm not attached to it, most of the time I don't even know where it is. But it is rather useful to me since I can keep in contact with people on the move.

I need a phone to call and text and that's it. My mom has offered to get a small plan for internet so I can look stuff up if I need it but I always decline. I wouldn't use it and it would be a waste of money.

I feel naked without my phone because I always use it as a clock and to get a hold of people.

You can't be much ruder than texting while you have a conversation with somebody. If they do I'll just stop talking.. I hate it
#39
I hate this whole "i have a iphone so i'm cooler than you" thing that's going on now, my old simple phone, who is just designed to make and answer calls, will last a million times longer than those ultra expensive shit phones everybody has now.
#40
I never call anyone so I don't need a phone other than the landline. if I wanted to talk to someone when I was a teenager I'd just go to their house or see them at school.
