Can't believe there isn't a Hawkwind thread in here. Anyone else a huge fan, especially of their early 70's work? These guys are so underrated.

To anyone whose never heard them: these guys invented space rock. Think awesome early 70's Sabbath or Zeppelin style riffage with psychedelic space synth effects and stoned vocals with great fantasy/space lyrics. Plus Lemmy on bass doing a sublime job.

Here are some songs:

love dave brock and the boys. lemmy started with them as well. i find that i prefer Hawkwind to Pink Floyd for the space rock stuff. hugh loyd langton is a decent guitar player as well.

a couple of people have mentioned that my song From Beyond (in profile) reminds them of Hawkwind.

Haha yeah, I can see the resemblance in atmosphere. You just need a virtual synth or something to add some spacy weird sounds over it.

Just spotted this thread... I saw on Hawkwind at Shepherds Bush (London) a few days ago. They put on a great show - 3rd time for me.

The current line up is excellent and Huw Loyd Langton Band supported them - played a few Hawkwind tracks to boot! Rocky Paths and Moonglum. Sweet!

Sweet, did Langton play anything with them? Maybe Levitation or Motorway City or something?

Apologies for the threadomancy. yes, he did indeed join them at the end of the set. I think they could all just swap about between bands, they all play the same songs. it was very cool to see.
