Well , i've been on UG for some times now , but never actually found a thread like this.

What makes a band a core band ?

Is it the clean choruses , the drum , overall sound of the album , the breakdowns or something else I just missed ?

I always tought it was the clean choruses and breakdown , but then some bands like The Black Dahlia Murder are sometimes classified as Core even if they are usually know as a melodic death metal band.
Lamb of God is considered metalcore , why ? It is a new sound , but it doesn't compare to As I Lay Dying in terms of being metalcore.

Well, I've been on UG for more times, and I can safely say there have been dozens of threads exactly like this.

You see, metalcore...it takes the core of metal (Loud noises) and adds stupid nonsensical lyrics about beating someone up, whilst having some form of breakdown typically and those grunting homo vocals.

Lamb of God is nowhere near metalcore.
