So i have a lit project that i have to make a power point for. i decided to make it a little different i would record myself playing covers of influential and well known songs of the 60's. problem is that i don't listen to alot of music from the era so what i need is for you guys to give me the names of some songs that are really recognizable. a release date is very helpful so i can put them in chronological order.

and if your really daring, help me out and give me your reasons why you think the song is influential.

Sunshine of Your Love, Day Tripper, Light My Fire, there are tons. What about some old R&B, like In the Midnight Hour, Knock On Wood, Sittin on the Dock of the Bay, Money, I Heard it Through the Grapevine.

Those are some very popular tunes that most people should recognise.

Some bands to look up:

The Beach Boys
The Kinks
The Beatles
Jimi Hendrix Experience
The Who
The Rolling Stones
The Doors

Near every band in the world is influenced by at least one of the above bands.

Now go and do your own research.

Bob Dylan's early work.
Miles Davis (particularly, Bitches Brew)
The Butterfield Blues Band
The Allman Brothers Band
John Mayall's Bluesbreakers
The Yardbirds
The Byrds
The Beatles & The Rolling Stones
John Coltrane
The Grateful Dead, Jefferson Airplane, and all things Haight - Ashbury

A bit of reading for any of these will tell you exactly why they are relevant. Happy hunting...
