Personally I love all me some Silicon transistor. It just has the warmth that you don't get with Germanium, which tends to sound sterile. I really like how the Silicon breaks up when you turn up the volume.

Silicon is harsher, while germanium has that nice smooth-ish feel to it. Usually, I add switching between the two, but overall, I prefer germanium.

good silicon trannies can sound like germaniums, only they are better because they are way more stable whereas germanium can be very picky depending on temperature

I like analogue Solid State amps that make no effort to be "tube-like", and I'm proud of it...

...A little too proud, to be honest.

Germanium all the way for me.
You said "Silicon has a warmth that germanium just doesnt have"
I believe its the other way around.
Germanium has warmth and smoothness,
while silicon sounds harsh and sterile.
Maybe its just me?

maybe I've just only had really good silicon trannies

Pfft. They are both just filling in time while we wait for Carbon diodes to become commonly available. You want organic? Carbon diodes are really organic by chemical definition.
