I really like the tone he gets out of his guitar so what kind of distortion or fuzz or whatever would you recommend for something similar?

I think probably any distortion or fuzz pedal would work pretty well, just turn the drive way up.
I would stay father away from overdrive, and very high gain "Metal pedals" I just don't think they would give the right sound.

P.S. I love Sleigh Bells!

You're definetly looking for a Devi Ever pedal

My suggestions are:

Torn's Peaker

Disaster Fuzz

And you could look into the Fuzz Factory, there's a guy on here who builds copies of them pretty damn cheap. Not sure of his name though, try asking the pedalboard thread.

Btw do you have an origianl Skylark from the 50's? That's pretty cool, i hear they take fuzz pedals greatly.
My gear:
  • Fender American Standard Telecaster
  • Ibanez RG450
  • Laney VC15
  • Electro Harmonix HOG
  • Vox Satchurator
  • Blackout Effectors Musket fuzz
  • Electro Harmonix Pulsar
  • Earthquaker Devices Disaster Transport
  • Malekko Chicklett

I do like the sound of that diaster fuzz. I'll look into it.

And yeah, it is an original Skylark from the 50's. '56 I think? Can't remember off my head. It is a pretty nice amp besides the fact that its only 5 watts.
