Hopefully someone can help me solve a long lasting problem. I'm looking for a piece of music that I heard the first 30ish seconds of on the radio. It starts with a piano playing just two chords repeated, and then a melody comes in over the top, I would describe it as quite floaty I guess, it's very gentle. I don't know whether it stays as just piano or whether other instruments comes in, if I had to guess I would say a violin plays the melody along with the piano later.

Unfortunately I don't have anything else to give you, other than I"m pretty sure it's a well known piece.

EDIT: It's a very slow tempo which might help people I'm not expecting miracles, I just thought maybe someone would know what I was on about, long shot but I've been on youtube for ages trying to find it.

That doesn't sound like classical music at all, you sure it wasn't some pop song?

While I'm here I might as well see if anyone can help me, I heard this punk song the other day, it had power chords and political lyrics, if I had to guess I would say it had a saxophone solo or a dog farting later on.

No-one?

Like I said, I wish I had more to offer, but I can't sing the tune through typing.

Youtube? Or record an audio file with your phone or any other device with such capabilities and then upload it.

Edit: Classical FM may have been trolling you. It's a pop song.

Rhythm wise, I'd say that the chords are just minims, and the melody seems just like crotchets, it's not a complex rhythm. Note wise the melody goes up up up up down down down, and just repeats that short motiff.

It certainly has that feel to it, compared to say a Mozart sonata. I think if everyone heard it they'd recognise it which is what makes this so infuriating.

I heard this acoustic song on the radio the other day.
I remember that there were only 3 chords and the lyrics were about love.

Anyone help me out?

Let's... let's not do this.

Slow melody, simple piano part with a solo violin (you think) playing something floaty...

When you say floaty, could it have been impressionist maybe?

Mendehlssohn? His piano pieces are quite "floaty" and calm.
An Augmented 4th or a Diminished 5th?

What the hell is a Sontana? Is that a sonata composed in Montana?

It's a sonata composed by Santana.

Or Cantana.

You do realise I'm just commenting on the misspelling of sonata as Sontana right?

except that's not correct

so·na·ta /səˈnätə/
Noun: A classical composition for an instrumental soloist, often with a piano accompaniment.

EDIT: oh, i didn't see the misspelling of sonata.
