A cube, to be more exact:

http://vimeo.com/22832755

A friend of mine posted that on Facebook. It's a 3x3x3 'Eco-Home' that's designed to house one person with a minimal carbon impact.

Question is; would anyone want to live in it?

I personally wouldn't, it looks dreadful...
#4
It looks like a portable toilet. There has to be a way to make houses environmentally light without making them look like sci-fi shithouses.

If better accommodations were available? shit no.

I'd take the worth of the materials, and buy some tools to build myself a house in nature, on a warm place. Done.

I'm not claustraphobic, but living in that thing would prbably make me.

Where do I fit my bed, a desk, a chair, (preferably a couch,) a tv, my collection of dvds, 8 guitars, a 4x12 cab and 100 watt head, a 2x12 combo, a fridge, an oven, a cooktop, a shower, a bath... the list goes on. I don't see how half of it could fit in there and leave me with enough space to breathe. The whole things looks a tad larger than my bedroom, which is only a tad larger than my bed.

I live in an eco home a lot of the time anyway, not like that, it's a converted Victorian villa.

I would give it a go, doesn't seem practical though.
My name is Jack.

Interesting how despite designing it - he doesn't live in it...

Would be an interesting charity project to install a few thousand of these in a 3rd world country - it's unlikely to ever happen though

It looks nice. If I can fit a toilet, shower, fridge, stove, sink, bed, guitar, and amp in there, and if I had high speed internet, I think I could live there

edit: just saw the video. That seems awesome! I wonder how much it would cost.

You would get no poon if you lived in there.

You, good sir, have not gone over to your friends house after a hard night of drinking to find 2 dudes passed out in the same room both holding their own flaccid cocks in hand, passed out, with porn on the tv.
#12
9 square meters? That's as big as my dorm room right now, plus it has a higher ceiling. But with a toilet and kitchen and shower in there, too? Hell no, nobody could live like that comfortably in this hemisphere.

EDIT: I take it back after watching the video. That box is definately nicer than my dorm room and I'd rather live there than here.

Just watched the video, it was pretty interesting. Some very nice solutions. I could imagine living there, but I'm not sure where I'd put all my things. Like my piano, guitars, stereo system, vinyl player etc.

Just build it a little bigger and I could probably live there.

I like the idea
But I've used stairs like those, and they're not safe. it might have been better to use ladder stairs.
It would quickly become a pain but it would cheap to live in if they set up eco home communities.
#16
Er... most houses feel like boxes as is - I read about a 5 metre cube that looks very liveable but the 3 metre one just looks way too small for any musician or someone who has just about any hobby that exists.

That isn't even the issue though. The trouble is first getting the female into the 'house'. And that just isn't happening.

I would LOVE to live in that.

Only thing I don't like is how its in a public place. But I doubt they'd all be there

if you're in the cube, you'll get a free ride in a flying box, and when you land, you can just stay there. Moving for free!

Looks fine to me, I would. In fact, I wish there was one available right now since I'm getting kicked out by my landlord.

Well then you can only bang environmentalists. And that's got to get annoying at some point.

It actually looks really nice but the only problem is that there's no space at all... seriously where would you put a guitar or an amp or anything really?

I did. Some of the things like the chair/lounge/table combination were pretty smart, but just about everything else was ridiculous. Who wants a composting toilet in their house? Or a washing machine in their living room?

The fact that it was two storeys just made it even more ridiculous.

I can't imagine the toilet is going to smell great aye...

But people do have washing machines in their kitchens and such, slap a little wooden door over it too (which I think it might have had) and I wouldn't have much issue with that.

I can see them marketing these as eco holiday huts, but living full time in these? ...maybe not.

Also there's absolutely no space to grow any cannabis... I think they're going to miss out on a large part of their target market due to this.
