Currently I use a track phone which is pay as you go, .3 minutes per text message. The problem being that I spend over 60 bucks a month on reupping on minutes!

I'm looking for a phone plan (single preferred over family plan) with unlimited texting and/or calling. I'm not interested in a camera phone, smart phone, whatever you want to call it, just a phone to use (though I'd imagine it's almost harder to find one without those features these days.)

Any recommendations? And yes, I've used google, but the amount of options out there is overwhelming, I'm trying to find some personal insight.

Go for T-Mobile's 500 minute individual plan, then grab unlimited texting. Total should be $45ish a month, depending on your state taxes. There's plenty of free phones available if you snag a 2 year contract.

I work for T-Mobile, so I could be a tad biased. They're going to be bough out soon enough anyway :P

AT&T already bought out T-Mobile.

Go with sprint. They have great phones and you can get unlimited everything for like 100 a month. Or for 70 a month you can get I think 400 minutes and unllimited text and data

25 bux a month 300 mins and unlimited text/data, i think 60 for unlimited all

i dont do a whole lot of talking, just mostly text so the 25 is an awesome deal for me.

i got a smart phone from them that can basically do whatever the larger carrier phones can, cept play the higher end games. not that I would waste my time playing some crappy cell phone game if i had an iphone anways

psp ftw

The single most important factor: Where do you live?

The different companies will have different levels of service by area. For example I'd love to go with Verizon, but I live in Oklahoma, where the only national (read: fiscally stable) service to have any kind of decent coverage outside OKC is AT&T. I hate them. So. Much. Verizon? Not a blip when you get out of the main city. Sprint is the same.

Do some coverage homework, and then piece together a plan based on that.

I've trained mine to be able to send 3 messages per hour to nearby friends, all for no more then some bird seed and bread crumbs.

AT&T has announced that they are buying T-Mobile, but a company merger of this magnitude takes about a year to actually go through.

T-Mobile has unlimited everything for $79.99 a month, so Sprint is a bad idea if that's the route you choose to go.

Go to a few phone places and tell them what you're looking for, you'd be surprised at the deals you can get if you just ask.

Also don't be shy about letting them know if another retailer will give you a better price/deal.

I have Virgin Mobile and it's only $25 for unlimited texts/calls/internet/whatever. It's a swell deal.
