I'm learning the solo from 'Flesh in to Gear' by CKY.

At one point you have to play this on the low E string 5--8--10--8--6--5--3--1 quite fast and I am unsure of what fingers to use for the best speed, because I can't quite keep up with it when trying to play along.

I'm an okay guitar player but this is something I've always struggled withi. I understand position playing, so for example I fret the 5 with my forefinger, then the 8 with my pinky but because the next note is out of that position I am always unsure of what to do next.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I would play it using 1, 4, 4, 2, 1, 4, 2, 1.

With 1 being your index finger, 2 being your middle finger etc.

But an easier way to play it would be this:

A|-0-3-5-3-1-------|
E|-----------5-3-1-|

personally i would do it this way

its hard to control open strings depending how fast it is. But, i have not heard the song so either way fast or slow, i would do it this way
