So i've been thinking about what I'm going to do without a bassist... I have a keyboard player/DJ/sampler guy and me on guitar and vocals, and we're trying to rustle up a drummer so in essence it would just be a 3 piece. The best way I can describe my style of music is really fast, wall of noise type alternative rock with lots of reverb and swirling pads (basically think rise against, meets autechre and radiohead) and I was thinking... If I make a lot of low endy sub bass to go with some of the pads, would I even need a bassist? I feel like a bassist would clog up the sound and not let the atmospherics breathe, but at the same time I don't want to lessen the organic element I'm providing with the guitar.

What do you think? Are there bands like this that have done this?
