I have a pair of these leads, with gold coloured jacks

http://www.maplin.co.uk/quarter-inch-jack-heavy-duty-speaker-leads-224810?ordercode=N34FY

I was intending on using them as guitar to amp leads but after reading some comments on this forum I am concerned now that they are not suitable as they are speaker leads. I emailed Maplin yesterday and they replied to say they would work ok for guitars but I would like a second opinion before I start using them.

So can leads sold as speaker leads be used as guitar leads?

Thanks in advance

speaker leads can be used for guitar to amp and whatever, but it will be pretty noisy because the actual cable is slightly different.

normal instrument cables are shielded, and speaker cables are balanced
