]Hi Folks,

I ordered a set of Wilkinson inline open tuners from
Hong Kong. They were recommended both here and
at TB. When I went to install them on my Affinity P
bass, and they were too big! :spit:

I had to grind them down to get them to fit. Red
arrows show where I had to grind. The top one
even hung over the edge! :spit:

I got them on and they seem to work fine,

I should have checked the measurements,

But I assumed they would fit because they said;
"Direct replacement for P and J basses"

Just thought I would give a warning to those who
are thinking about buying Wilkinsons. Check the
dimensions close. I still don't think my headstock
is smaller than regular Fender head stocks.

If I'm wrong, someone please clue me in,

If forum members here are suggesting I use these tuners on
my Squire Affinity, then they may well be giving that advice to
others.

Not only is there a chance that I might save someone the
issues I faced, it may also make others think twice about
putting others in a bad situation.

My question is,

why do you question someone trying to help his fellow
BP?

You did a pretty neat and pro-looking job there. Good job!

This

From the after photos I couldn't even tell that they were ground down. Well done.

Good job with the modification, the lines are really even. I've noticed with a lot of guitars and basses that tuners don't always fit headstocks (I have a Tele whose tuners don't really fit).

Nice job.

I've found that a lot of import "Direct Replacement" stuff is not!
