What songs do you guys think are the greatest guitar performances.
Give your top five.
Not nessecarily best guitar solos, but guitar performances in general.
ex.

1. Machine Gun
2. Stairway to Heaven
3. Hotel California
4. Voodoo Child (Slight Return)
5. Texas Flood

These aren't just the guitar solos, its the whole song.
And only guitar based, not based on composition or lyrics or anything like that.

If the list had any of the other criteria above, Stairway to Heaven would be no. 1.

Keep jamming,

An obvious one I thought of was "Eruption" by Van Halen. Once somebody heard that, they were immediately driven to learn guitar.
EDIT: Oh, top 5. In no order: Eruption, Surfing with the Alien, Last Horizon, Free Bird (amazing slides, so much emotion), and Little Wing.

Eruption!!!!
My mind was going blank at that moment. I'd Put it at Number Three, and knock Texas Flood off my list.
I feel dumb now.
