Hey guys, I've been trying to transcribe This is Gonna Hurt by Sixx AM and have most of the solo but want to know what scale it is based on. I have the notes A, A#, C, C#, D, E, F, G#. I thought it could be A melodic minor or A harmonic minor, but both lack the C# and A#. So I've become a little stuck as I'd like to know the scale for improvising purposes.

Cheers Guys.

Even if you're not sure what the name of the scale is, you could just use the notes you have to build the scale along the entire fretboard and play it. Good luck!

What note does it resolve to?

If you don't know, find out. Generally the easiest way to figure what key something is in.

Its the Lydian mode; formed in Eastern Arabia when the Persians invaded England.

Head and Cab for $130? You don't need a head and cabinet, you need a psychological examination.

It could be A diminished since there are 8 notes and the diminished scale is an 8 note scale.

What is the chord progression? Those notes could mean anything out of context.
And no, Guitar Hero will not help. Even on expert. Really.
