I might be starting a cycle of accutane this month, was wondering if anyone in the pit has used it and what was your experience with it like?

*wtf is accutane?*

*looks up accutane*

Wiki:

The following adverse effects have been reported to persist, even after discontinuing therapy: alopecia (hair loss), arthralgias, decreased night vision,[27][28] inflammatory bowel disease,[29][30][31][32] degenerative disc disease, keloids, bone disease, dry eyes,[28] and "dry skin". High dosages of isotretinoin have been reported to cause rosacea (a disease of severe facial skin redness and irritation)[citation needed]. It is not known how these side effects can be permanent, but several studies have shown it induces apoptosis (cell death) in various cells. Isotretinoin is one of the drugs discussed in a recent study[33] examining epigenetic side effects (for example, DNA methylation) of common pharmaceuticals.

Isn't that one of the drugs that they have the lawyer commercials for?

Yup. It is.

Don't do it. It tends to be the worst thing ever.

I also read that it can cause suicidal depression.

Yes sometimes people have terrible reactions to it bu I have heard many stories such as tr3nt's above me of people just having the common dry skin. As for the recent law case commercials my dermatologist will not support these or testify for them because he says no evidence has actually been found showing that these are linked. You also get a blood test monthly to watch for certain things.

I've been on 2 and a half cycles! Yay...you have to get your blood check atleast once a month and its a lot like being a candidate for organ/blood/plasma/etc donation. You have to maintain good levels and cell reaction basically. Its intense shit for sure, and the first three months are going to SUCK I promise you that. However, if your acne is bad enough and your body reacts well to it, it will all be worth it. I also promise you that. My body has actually managed to fight it at times and I still get the occasional breakout...which further confirms my belief in me being a super-hero of some kind.

Good luck, and don't **** around with it. Take it as recommended and on time and ALWAYS get your blood checked when you should. Hopefully you'll have a hot nurse put her boobs in your face as she sticks the needle in, too

2 weeks ago I ended a 7 month treatment with accutane. The only unwanted effect was dry lips. My face is a lot better now, I'd say it was worth it.

I did it and had 0 adverse effects except dry skin. If you follow instructions and make sure to get your blood checked you shouldn't have any problems. Obviously talk to a specialist about it, but when I talked to mine she said that she hadn't really ever had any patient that experienced serious side effects and most were quite happy.

EDIT: Oh, and it was totally worth it. My skin went from utter shit that would have scarred bad (already did a little bit) to being almost perfect. I get maybe one or two pimples every couple of months.

Considering I usually see lawyers on tv saying "If you have taken accutane, you need to call THIS number now" usually because of severe side effects.

So if I were you TS, I would not take it.

But some people just get some dry skin.

I took it and had no side effects other than dry skin, and it helped immensely. The breakouts I get now are mere fractions of what they used to be.
