Hey guys, I have been looking at the Digitech rp155 and 255. I like the sound on both and I don't think it sounds too digital to me I have not tried it out in any store but I have listened to it online.

Is the 255 worth the extra $50 or should I get a used rp355?

Is there much of a difference when buying used mfx pedals?

And do you think Boss multi effects units are better than Digitech's? I am confused because some people say Boss is better for Multi effects and some say Digitech is better for mfx.

I play lots of styles of music from rock to Apologetix songs so basically I play all kinds of music.

I play through headphones alot of the time.

My setup: guitar: Fender Squier Strat
Amp: Roland cube 15x

Thanks alot for all the help

Ok thanks for replying. I'll have to look at that. So you think that is the best pedal for under $150?

Spend the extra $50 and get the RP355. Or buy a RP355 off eBay for $150. When people talk about Boss having better FX, it's for units over $200. The RP355 has some great tones in it. I have an RP1000 and the RP155.

The RP155 is good, but the stomp box mode on the RP355 allows you to turn FX on and off without having to change presets. Also the lower models have less amp models and FX. The tones are the same for both.

I think I might look at getting a used rp355. Is it worth the extra $50 over the new rp155? Is there much of a difference when buyin used mfx pedals?

Thanks. Is there a difference when buying used multi effects pedals? I probably will not use the rp355 live so is it better to get the rp155 or 255?

I've looked at that and watched the video but I like how Digitech has way more amp models and the drum machine.

yes, there are some differences.I think the 255 has a good price for beginners (rp 500 and 1000 are too big for me that play only in my room),
if u want it i advice you to get it new, just to be safe

Ok thanks alot. I think it's Going to be the rp255 for me. And you still think I should buy it new?

I buy all my multi FX used. And I've owned 15-20 different ones. Get an RP355 off eBay for $125-$150 incl shipping. The extra switches and stomp box mode will be worth it.

Hey fly135 ,How long have your mfx units lasted? I will probably get the rp355 used so I want to make sure it will last a while and will be reliable. Thanks

The only multifx that ever broke was a Yamaha Magicstomp. I have several of them. The Pod XT Live I got for $80 because the output level pot was flaky. I sprayed it with DeOxit and it's fine.

Here's a list of the units I have or had. Some I own more than one of the same multifx.

Have Owned

Line 6 Guitar Port
Digitech RP300A

Ok Thanks. On average how long did your mfx units last?
Guitars: Fender FSR Standard Strat, Squire Affinity Strat, Epiphone Nighthawk
Amps: Vox AC15C1, Roland Cube 15x, Peavey KB-1
Pedals: Digitech RP355, HD500, Joyo AC-Tone, EHX Soul Food

They lasted as long as I had them. And I sold them in good working condition. They don't get much abuse and sometimes not a lot of use. The GNX4 is the unit I've had the longest, over 2 years. The onboard loop/8 track recorder makes it a keeper.
