Hey so today i started lessons with a beginner. it was the first time he was holding the guitar.
I taught him the basic terms of music (like higher in pitch, lower in pitch... ), names of guitar's parts as he asked, how to hold the guitar etc etc...

he seems to be learning fast and well on next lesson i want to teach him some metal riffs. the easiest you can think of. One string lick and to be quite easy.

also if this'll help he loves SOAD, Papa roach and slipknot. any ideas might help not that i dont know how to teach him but need some help with the beginner metal songs cause he really wants metal i usually teach people simple clean stuff and then only teach them some rock stuff and then only some metal

Hmm.. well One by Metallica was the first song I learned when I picked up a guitar for the first time, it's not that hard. But it sounds like he likes modern metal. Could you do some easy drop b 1-finger power chords? Thats like all of Slipknot songs. Duality is pretty easy and sulfur isnt bad either idk how it would be for a beginner tho.

you could teach him the opening riff for Toxcitiy-SOAD. That way you both get what you want, a clean sound for you and a riff from a band he likes.

Anything from Bathory-S/T.

Acid probably makes you feel less like a hedonistic raver piece of trash, too.

Chop Suey defiantly is an easy riff to learn. Another good riff to try and teach him later on would be Hypnotize; get him alternating between the strings. Here are the correct tabs to both songs:

Chop Suey!

Hypnotize

Other then those two by SOAD, Duality and Vendetta by Slipknot are pretty easy. You could also try to teach him the chords to Snuff. Here:

Duality

Vendetta

Snuff (Chords)

Hope I helped!

The first step is admitting it's not "a friend" that needs the help.

Violent Pornography by SOAD isn't too hard and it's in drop D. A lot of Slipknot is in drop B I believe so you might wanna try to avoid that for now.

Why don't you just have him pick out a song he wants to learn and teach it to him?

Because it seems that he want's something easy to teach. If the student picks out a song that isn't easy to teach, the teacher would have to say no and the student would be left feeling down and thinking he sucks.

I would suggest Ariels by System of a down, if only just the chorus. Very easy, all simple fifth chords.

Yeah crazy train is good and you could just go for some cliche first songs like smoke on the water or iron man, those where some of the first I learned.

The Blister Exists by Slipknot has got a easy opening riff, although tuning might be an issue.
Teach him how to Palm mute and Tremolo pick, well maybye not tremolo, but once he can palm mute he'll be like:
:O
And then he'll probally be chugging away lol thinking his the heaviest guy on the planet.
Meet the Monster by Five Finger Death Punch (Most of it) is easy.
But you have to teach him the proper chords as well, because my guitar teacher and I slacked off on that, and now I cant play full chords, never will. Lol. I shouldve kept playing that shit hahah.
METAL!

I started playing some Deftones power chords and riffs about one month after picking up a guitar, especially the tracks "My own summer" and "Lhabia", the one-string intro riff to "My own summer" is easy to learn and sounds pretty badass if you ask me.

i don't know much easy standard tuned songs for those bands. you could teach him the main riff to sugar by soad, but it would be in the wrong tuning.

Grinder by Judas Priest is pretty simple, most of it's like 4 power chords.

The basic stuff, Smoke on the Water, Iron Man, Fade to Black, Last Resort (the opening chords for beginner, the main riff for more advanced).

Honestly, don't start with metal, just teach him the basics, like 12 bar blues, major and minor chords, and some Led Zeppelin. That's all beginners need imo.
