I have a Crate v-18 amp. It's tube and about 2 1/2 years old. I've never changed the tubes. The problem I'm having is when I play above about the 8th fret on the B and e string there is a wobble sound. It's not too bad, but it's not normal so it's worrying me. I'm wondering if the tubes are getting old and are looking for replacement soon. It's been a gradual thing.

Any suggestions or ideas would be helpful thanks.

christ for two and a half years its a wonder they havent blown! what's happening is that the sound emitted is vibrating at the same frequency as something else in the amp. change the tubes, and if it happens after that, pad the amp a bit, ya know, put a cushion below it or something like that.

It's sitting on carpet as is so it's probably the tubes. I just haven't wanted to dish out the dough for them but I'll have to before long I suppose.
