Hey,

I have recently decided to move away from my multi-fx (boss me50) as I find I really only use it as an overdrive pedal to crank the gain channel of my amp (JCM900 100 Watt Dual Reverb).

At the moment I plan on getting a TS808 modded boss SD-1 and a boss GE-7 in the fx loop (probably use mainly for mid range boost during solos).

Or another option is that I go for the ADA MP1 preamp which is a bit more costly and I really don't want to spend too much, seeing as i've just gotten a mortgage - however, it seems to have the tone I'm looking for.

In the band I am in now I mainly play 70s/80s metal (Van Halen, Ozzy, RATT) with classic thrash (Megadeth) as heavy as I probably go in a live setting. My favourite tones are those of John Sykes, Vitto Bratta (White Lion) and George Lynch.

What would be the better option or is there any other pedals you'd recomend for the style I play.

I live in the UK

Edit - forgot about budget, probably £200 is as far as I want to go.

OD will work better for you in front of the amp than it will in the FX loop. I mean if you just want more volume and not more distortion, I guess that would work, but for a real overdrive/boost you'd put it up front.
