So on my Ibanez RG120, the strap peg is loose.

Now here's the annoying thing.

When I use a screwdriver to tighten it, it doesn't work well.
BUT when I use my finger, it tightens.

[^ Is someone gonna sig that?]

Anyway, what do I do to solve this problem?

EDIT: Can someone explain the matchstick method please? How exactly does it work?

...

What is the problem? If you want to tighten it, tighten it with your fingers.

if the strap peg is coming out, then remove it,

add wood chips (toothpicks) and glue, let set, screw the preg back in thru the wood,

and let set.

wrap the screw with teflon tape. This will tighten it up. If it's still too loose a little wood putty on the screw will work well.

it works by filling the hole, and providing new wood for the threads of the screw to grip. the thin set super glue (instant jet, etc) is runny enough to penetrate fairly well into the hole and provides a good tack to hold the new wood to the guitar body.

matches are nice because they are a very soft but fairly tough wood. probably a white pine. so it will flatten out and deform; conform to the hole and the screw. so with the pressure and the glue and everything, its not as likely to pull out.
