Every month the Pit hosts a guitar competition, but I, as a drummer and guitarist, thought what about the other users who don't play guitar? So this is a competition for bassists, drummers, pianists, and any other instruments. This is sort of the pilot competitions for finding and fixing mistakes. So, the entries will video/audio clips (Youtube or Soundcloud preferably) There will be three tiers: Easy, Intermediate, and Hard. Post the song you will be doing, your instrument, and the tier you're doing. Tiers are based on song difficulty ex.

*REGISTRATION CLOSED*

Drums: Easy - AC/DC - Back in Black
Intermediate - Monkey Wrench - Foo Fighters
Hard - YYZ - Rush

All genres are allowed, if your not sure about your tier, just ask!

There will also be an improv category for various instruments in which you create your own backing track and improvise over it.

NO VOCALS. Post a link to your cover when you finish.

You have until June 5th to enter, and until June 10th to submit your entry.

So I have to learn a song in 10 days?

Damn, that will be tricky on a euphonium...

EDIT: I guess I could do a bass cover too seeing as it's my primary instrument...
I pride myself on my humility.

Alright, not hard.

I'm gonna try Outshined by Soundgarden then, maybe a full arrangement, but just judge me on the vocals. I need to take a look at the drum score...

What tier would you consider the vocal as?

Im not really a singer, but this sounds like I could probably sing it pretty well. I'm gonna put it in the easy category.

I'm actually heavily insulted by that.

I'm sorry but it doesn't sound like a very hard vocal song.

I think Vocal difficulty should be based on how strict the judging is.

Honestly I think vocals should have an entirely different competition altogether, which I might add I'd have interest in entering. Still may do this though, haven't decided.
Begin again in the night, let's sway again tonight.
Your arm on my shoulder, your cheek against mine.
Where can we go, when will we find that, we know.

This sounds pretty awesome. I would do a bass cover but alas, I have no bass now. I'll think about doing a vocal cover but I'm a bit iffy on that, we'll see if I decide to do it.

Maybe this...?

Saint, I dunno your range, and it might genuinely be easy to sing in your range. But in the actual range, it really isn't, and singing it knocks my speaking voice up by a fifth.

Vocals should probably be organized into a separate competition. You can judge the complexity of an instrumental part far easier than a vocal, and maybe trying to hitch a complexity rating to a vocal and then rate it up against instrumental parts isn't... Like, there's only one C1 on the keyboard, but when you're a vocalist, you can make a C1 have thousands of different, noticeable, tones.

I'll think about it.

I forgot that my recording quality won't be very good
I'll do what I can, and hope it turns out alright.

Ok, I'm pretty sure I'm gonna do a bass cover of Hare Hare Yukai from The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya, which I guess would be intermediate.

Hard, piano, Nuvole Bianche - Einaudi
Always wanted to learn it, and my exams are over so I have the time.
